I wonder if he's run into Mary Jo yet? That's gotta be an awkward meeting.

Natural causes at a respectable age, how very un-Kennedy-like.

BTW I've been to Chappaquiddick. The pond looks very shallow, like you could practically walk across without getting your head wet. Pretty easy to wade in there and pull someone from a car you would think.

Too bad that's what the conservatives will insist on remembering him for...

Not me.

I will remember him for drinking Scotch like it was water.

He'll always be remembered for Chappaquiddick, even if people don't mention it out loud. And probably should be.

It's a big loss, and regardless of what people thought of his political beliefs, his peers in the Senate seem to have a high level of respect for him, as I think they should. He was a proud liberal who leaves behind a pretty impressive legacy.

There has been talk of naming the health care bill after him. While I think it's a noble idea at first glance, ultimately it's politically stupid. Let's name it after a guy who essentially got away with drunk driving and manslaughter, was a known heavy drinker, was overweight, and ultimately died of inoperable brain cancer. Eventually someone will take the low road and make a comparison. Don't think so? Just look how long it took for the Hitler references to pop up.

That's kind of funny. I've heard it said that under said health care bill he would have died in the waiting room.

Would it at least have been a NICE waiting room?

There would be no way they wound up in the same place.

And, A.L. is right-why do those conservatives have to ruin this moment by bringing up some silly story of an innocent girl being killed by the callous behavior of a rich and powerful man, and then to have the local, state, and national powers-that-be collude with the man on the coverup?
How rude!

I guess you're implying that she must have gone to heaven and he went to hell. This seems rather presumptuous to me. But I must admit that the only think I know about her life is the way it ended. So please enlighten me on what a pillar of virtue the world was robbed of by this evil, drunken murderer.

Since she was knowingly sleeping with a married man, who admittingly killed her, I figured Ted's good for Purgatory (being a good Catholic and all).

He's cool either way, the Mormons got his name and they'll eventually take it out of the hat and pray him into Heaven.

Only "pillars of virtue" are allowed into heaven?
Since you are obviously unread on the subject (as you seem to be about every subject), it might be best if we stop this afterlife discussion here.

I love how you always make my points. Thanks again.
